The Seymour Historical Society will host a program about the Irish Brigade’s part in the Civil War, at the historical society on West Street Sunday March 25.
The event will begin at 2 p.m.
Southbury historian Charlie Rippel will discuss the extraordinary achievements of the brigade, known for its battle cry.
He’ll trace its history from immigrants who fled Ireland during the great famine, describe its involvement in key battles, and breathe life into its heroes with biographical sketches of generals, chaplains and Medal of Honor recipients.
Doors open at 1 p.m., for those who would like to view the museum’s exhibitis.
The program is free for members. The historical society suggests a donation of $3 per person, or $5 per couple for non-members.
