More than 50 groups cleaned different areas of Shelton this April, collecting truckloads of garbage from Shelton streets, trails and parks.
Wednesday, the volunteers were honored by the city and the Anti-Litter Committee for their work.
One volunteer, Debra Arsenault, was named the “Clean Sweep Volunteer of the Year” for her work cleaning the entire length of Buddington Road.
It took Arsenault two weeks to clean up the road. She filled dozens of garbage bags with litter during the effort.
