Cohen And Gildea To Receive Charles H. Flynn Humanitarian Award

SHELTON — On Thursday, June 22, 2023, Valley United Way will host its first in-person Annual Meeting since Covid from 5:30 – 7:00pm at the Courtyard by Marriott in Shelton. Valley United Way is excited to focus on Leading and Lifting the Valley by focusing on Alice (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, and Employed community members. 

The evening will focus on Housing and feature the State of Connecticut Department of Housing Commissioner, Ms. Seila Mosquera-Bruno as the keynote speaker.

Two leaders will be honored with the prestigious Charles H. Flynn Humanitarian Award. The recipients include Jim Gildea of Bigelow Tea and Jamie Cohen, Both humanitarians have served the Valley Community through their volunteerism and philanthropic work. Mike Pacowta, President and CPO of the Valley United Way, looks forward to honoring two of the Valley’s own who make our community a better place to live and work. 

Karen Stockla, Chair of the Board and Vice President of Operations & Planning at Prudential, and Joy DeMarchis, Chair of VUW Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of DeMarchis Family Holdings, LLC will serve as Co-Chairs of the event. A total of 160 guests with local Mayors, corporate leaders, and community guests will be present.
