A condo in Greystone off Nells Rock Road was damaged after a fire started in the basement Thursday evening.
Firefighters were called to the scene of 45 Greystone at 5:50 p.m., said Capt. Steve Hoffman of Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Co. 1.

Between 70 to 100 firefighters responded to the scene. Wires in the basement were burning, along with ceiling supports for the first floor.
They were able to quickly bring the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the 22-year-old, three-bedroom condo.
The condo owners were home at the time, but were able to get out unharmed.
The basement suffered fire damage. There is smoke damage on the upper floors.
All fire companies in Shelton were called to the scene. Derby firefighters were brought to the scene to cover the city.
