The City of Derby honored its state championship girls cross-country track team by placing signs at various welcome to Derby plaques around the city.

2016 was a great year for Derby’s female athletes.
Derby’s younger cheerleaders won a third national championship, according to minutes from the December 2016 Board of Aldermen meeting:
Mayor Anita Dugatto praised the “Derby Pee Wee level 3 Cheerleaders for winning their 3rd national championship in a row. They received recognition for their choreography, highest stunt, and highest score for the week. I would also like to congratulate the Derby Jr. Pee Wees for placing 2nd at Nationals.”
