HARTFORD — As part of its daily update on the COVID-19 coronavirus, Gov. Ned Lamont’s office Saturday released a list that breaks down the number of confirmed cases by town.
As of 10 a.m. Saturday (March 21) there were 223 confirmed cases statewide. Five people have died. According to the state, 3,100 people have been tested. Locally, there is a drive-up testing facility at Griffin Hospital. A doctor’s order is needed to get the test. Click here for more information.
It should also be noted that at a press update earlier this month Dr. Matthew Cartter, the state’s epidemiologist, estimated that for every positive test result there are probably 100 other people who have COVID-19 but have not been tested.

New Information
Prior to Saturday’s town-by-town list from the state, the location info in the Valley was being kept from the public, even though other residents throughout the state were receiving the information for their communities.
The Naugatuck Valley Health District opted to cite HIPAA regulations as reason to withhold the information. HIPAA is a federal act that prevents healthcare agencies from sharing patient information.
Saturday’s list was released by the state Department of Health. It is not clear whether this information will be released on a daily basis.
