Ronald Sabatini — the man who was assaulted outside of Connie’s last summer — has offered to settle his lawsuit against one of his alleged assailants for $300,000.
The offer was outlined in a document filed at Superior Court in Milford on June 22.
Sabatini was beaten up on Elizabeth Street outside the popular bar, Connie’s, on the night of March 6, 2010.
Sabatini was in a coma and hospitalized at Yale New Haven Hospital for 10 days after the assault.
Two men — Anthony DeFala and Richard Valenti — were charged for the assault and were later accepted into a special probationary program for first time offenders at Superior Court in Derby.
Sabatini sued the men and Connie’s, claiming there wasn’t adequate security in place at the time of the assault, and that Connie’s employees didn’t do anything to help him that night.
Sabatini’s attorney, Andrew Pianka, declined to comment.
The settlement was offered only to Valenti.
Sabatini did not offer settlements to the other defendants — the former bar owners and Anthony DeFala.
According to the lawsuit and the police report for the arrests, DeFala is accused of punching Sabatini in the head.
Valenti is accused of shoving Sabatini during the fight.
If the two men successfully complete their probationary period, the charges will be waived and their records cleared.
Valenti’s attorney, John Rowan, has not filed a response to the offer in court.
He has filed several documents asking for more information from Sabatini as to the extent of his injuries, along with his medical and job history.
Sabatini has claimed he can’t work as a result of the injuries suffered in the attack.
Rowan also filed questions about a motorcycle accident Sabatini was involved in some 30 years ago. Through court documents, Sabatini declined to answer those questions, saying it was irrelevant to the case.
Rowan did not return a call for comment last week.
