
Four nursing homes in the lower Naugatuck Valley have residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement released from Gov. Ned Lamont’s office Wednesday night.
The nursing homes include three in Shelton, and one in Seymour.
In Shelton:
Apple Rehab Shelton Lakes
Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation
Gardner Heights Health Care Center
In Seymour:
Shady Knoll Health Center
The state did not list how many cases each facility has, or any other information regarding those nursing homes.
The Valley Indy reached out to the owners of Shady Knoll Wednesday afternoon.
The CT Mirror reported March 30 that nursing home companies were exploring whether to move residents COVID-19 patients in order to protect the rest of the residents.
The highly contagious COVID-19 poses a significant threat to elderly people with pre-existing health conditions. Four people in Shelton with COVID-19 have died. Three were men in their 80s. One was a female in her 90s.
Local officials have indicated that some, if not all, of the local fatal cases are from Shelton nursing homes.
Definitive information has not been released locally.

Separately, the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University reports that there are 209,071 confirmed cases in the United States.
There have been 4,633 deaths, and 8,434 people have recovered in the U.S., according to Johns Hopkins.
State officials said Wednesday they are working to provide “recovered” data as part of the daily data released to the public.
