One woman was taken to the hospital after crashing her car into a utility pole and sliding into a gully on Route 67 in Oxford.
Firefighters and officers at the scene said the woman was talking and didn’t appear to have serious injuries.
The road was closed in the area of Seth Den Road north to Route 42 at 7:30 p.m. and traffic was being diverted while emergency crews investigated the accident.
The crash happened at about 7 p.m. when the woman’s Sports Utility Vehicle hit a utility pole and landed nose down in a ditch on the side of the road. The utility pole snapped as a result of the accident. It fell into the center of the road in a tangle of wires and cables.
The name and status of the woman was not known as of 9:15 p.m. Thursday. Oxford Patch reported Sgt. Dan Semosky, the Resident State Trooper, said she was 35 and from Derby.
Connecticut Light and Power was at the scene working to shut down the power at 7:30 p.m. The road was closed from Chestnut Hill Tree Road on the south to Route 42 near Governor’s Hill Road at the north as of 10 p.m. Police said the road would be closed for much of the night, until the utility company could remove the pole from the center of the road.
Further information wasn’t available Thursday night.
