There’s a new bar in town.
In September, the new Dark Horse Saloon in the Pleasant Valley Professional Plaza on Route 67 opened its doors.
The new saloon replaces the Oxford Ale House, which closed last year.
Owner Robert Deriu, of Waterbury, said they have gutted the old bar and renovated it from top to bottom.
The bar is decorated with a Tuscan flair, which includes rusts and other fall colors.
There’s a brand new wooden floor and a lounge area and a pool table and they have disc jockeys, Karaoke and bands.
Deriu said they have six huge LCD televisions on for those patrons who want to watch sports.
“We wanted a warm friendly atmosphere,’‘ he said.
Deriu said they are also serving food at lunch and dinner that is being provided by Rose’s Restaurant, which is next door to the new saloon.
Herman Schuler, Oxford’s Economic Development Director said he was pleased that the previously vacant store front is now filled with a new business. “I’m always happy to see new business in town,’‘ said Schuler.
Schuler said the previous bar did not do well in town and said he hopes this new saloon thrives.
