Decision Delayed On Seymour Pigeon Case

FILE PHOTOA Seymour resident must wait another month to find out if he can keep at least 50 show pigeons on his property.

While the Zoning Board of Appeals held a public hearing last month to discuss an appeal to a cease and desist order from the town, the board could not vote on the appeal as scheduled Thursday night because not enough ZBA members attended the meeting.

Shafi Kalici, of Carriage Drive, left the short meeting disappointed.

There’s nothing you know. It’s hard, how would you feel just waiting? But that’s all you know. It’s just nothing,” Kalicki said.

David Coe, vice chairman of the board, said a motion could not be made Thursday. The appeal will be added to January’s agenda.

A neighbor apparently complained that Kalici kept too many pigeons on his property. A cease and desist order was then issued by the town.

The town alleged there were 100 pigeons on the property. The family’s lawyer said there are about 50.
