POSTPONED: Weather Pushes Sunday Test Kit Distribution To Wednesday In Derby

DERBY — The Derby Fire Department on Thursday announced that its members are scheduled to host a COVID-19 test kit and face mask distribution event on Sunday.

The test kits and masks are being provided by the State of Connecticut.

The state created a website where the public can learn the pros and cons of home test kits, along with instructions about how to use the kits. Those instructions include links to videos. Please click here to go to the state’s instructional website.

Residents should keep in mind that a limited number of test kits and masks are available. State officials said this week they are not providing these items to every resident in Connecticut. However, these items are also available to purchase online or in stores. The items this weekend are meant for people experiencing COVID-19 symptoms but can’t get an appointment for a COVID-19 test since testing centers are overwhelmed thanks to the Omicron variant.

The following information was posted to the Derby Fire Department Facebook page on Thursday:

Derby N95 Mask and Covid Test Kit Distribution

Covid Home Test Kits and N95 Masks are back in stock.

We are once again asking only residents experiencing symptoms to pick up test kits.

Kits will be limited to 2 test kits and 4 masks per address with proof of residency required.
