DERBY — The Valley Indy emailed general questions to the candidates running for the Board of Aldermen/Alderwomen in the City of Derby.
The questions were sent Sept. 25 to the political party chairmen of the Democratic and Republican parties. They were asked to distribute the questions to the candidates.
The deadline to respond was Oct. 16.
The Valley Indy is publishing all responses received by the deadline.

Why are you running for the Derby Board of Aldermen/Alderwomen?
“I am running for the Derby Board of Alderwoman because I have strong communication skills and want to be out in the city talking and listening to our city residents. I want to be the voice of our residents looking out for their best interests, and I want to be a voice on fair and balanced developments.”
In your personal opinion, what are the two biggest challenges facing the City of Derby?
“1. To Increase the tax base by moving forward with our downtown development.
2. Advocate for our children and support our great schools in supporting education for our children which is needed. With proper support so much more can be done for our children in terms of technology and programs for a high quality education system.”
