DERBY — The Valley Indy emailed general questions to the candidates running for the Board of Aldermen/Alderwomen in the City of Derby.
The questions were sent Sept. 25 to the political party chairmen of the Democratic and Republican parties. They were asked to distribute the questions to the candidates.
The deadline to respond was Oct. 16.
The Valley Indy is publishing all responses received by the deadline.

Derby High softball coach, 30 years.
Helped to raise $25,000 for Griffin Hospital Breast Wellness Center with our “pink” game held with Ansonia softball for the past eight years. Started this game after my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011.

“While working for the City of Derby public works for the past 31 years I see firsthand some of the needs and concerns of the citizens of our town.”
Why are you running for the Derby Board of Aldermen/Alderwomen?
“As a longtime resident, I would like to help with the decision making of what is best for our town. Just like coaching the kids and helping them succeed I have an interest in helping our residents of Derby and making it a better place to live.”
In your personal opinion, what are the two biggest challenges facing the City of Derby?
“The two biggest challenges in my opinion are the rising taxes and the development of the south side of Main Street.”
