UPDATE: Derby police said Monday morning the child was been released from the hospital.
Derby police and the Department of Children and Families checked out the incident as per protocol.
“this was ruled accidental in nature,” Derby police spokesman Lt. Sal Frosceno said in an e‑mail.

A child was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital after falling from a second-story window Friday (Aug. 26).
The extent of the child’s injuries was not known Friday afternoon. The child may have been 6 years old.
A Derby Storm ambulance was sent to 209 Minerva St. at about 1:15 p.m., after receiving a report of the fall.
Crews were directed to the property’s driveway. The child was accompanied by a parent in the ambulance to Yale-New Haven.
Derby police responded to the scene as well.
Further details were not available Friday.
