On Saturday March 30, Walnut Hill’s Derby campus held their first 5K Run-Walk on the Derby Greenway to help those whose lives have been impacted by domestic abuse.
The church raised nearly $3,000 for BHcare’s Center for Domestic Violence Services in Ansonia.
“For our first 5k Run – Walk the turnout was phenomenal” said Campus Pastor Walt Mayhew. “We had over 150 participants, on what turned out to be a beautiful day. We are thrilled to be able to provide nearly $3,000 to aid those affected by domestic violence.”
Susan DeLeon the director of the Center for Domestic Violence Services, said she was very thankful for the church’s event and the impact it will have on providing services to those whose lives are affected by domestic abuse.
“These funds will go a long way in helping us deliver services to those who come to the center. We look forward to working with the church annually on their 5K Run – Walk as a way to not only provide much need funds but to raise awareness as well.”
