Derby Continues Its Blizzard Cleanup

Derby Public Works and private vendors are continuing to clear streets and remove snow to ensure all residents can safely move about.

Derby Public Schools will be closed until Tuesday, February, 19, 2013.

The city will continue to work to uncover fire hydrants.

This week only, trash and recycling schedules will follow holiday schedules (trash and recycling will be picked up one day after your normal pick up day).

Next week normal schedule for trash and recycling will resume.

I would like to remind our residents not to remove snow from their driveways and sidewalks and dump it onto the city streets. This causes problems for oncoming traffic, “ Mayor Anthony Staffieri said. Please be mindful of your neighbors, in particular, seniors and those with health issues. Offer to lend a hand, check on them to see if they are OK.”

Staffieri thanked residents for their patience.

Working together we are making progress digging out. I would also like to thank my city departments, especially public works, fire, police, OEM, education, private vendors and all other departments for their dedication and cooperation.”
