Derby rescue crews had to use the “jaws of life” cutting tools to remove a driver from a wreck on Hawthorne Avenue Saturday.
According to a Facebook post from Storm Engine Co./Ambulance Corps Co. 2, police, fire and EMS were called to the area of 71 Hawthorne Ave. in west Derby about 8:30 a.m.
One car crashed into two parked cars, according to the Storm Engine Co.
The driver may have suffered a medical issue, triggering the crash. The driver’s side airbag was setoff from the impact, according to radio transmissions. The moving vehicle hit one of the parked cars head-on.
The driver was cut from the car using hydraulic cutting tools made by HURST.
