The rain held off until 1:30 p.m. Saturday for Derby Day, but strong currents in the Housatonic River ruined the event’s first duck race.
St. Mary-St. Michael School has this announcement about the duck race postponement. The event would have taken place at 3 p.m., rain or shine. But then the river currents caused the collection system – a line that stretched across the river from Derby to Shelton – to snap. The school said it will soon announce when the race will take place.
