A 32-year-old Derby man was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment after several people were stabbed during a melee in a Main Street pool hall.
Alexander Zeilik was arrested Wednesday morning and is being held on a $250,000 bond.
According to police Lt. Sal Frosceno, Derby police were sent to “Breaktime at Jaks“ billiard center at 137 Main St. at 1:18 a.m., after receiving a report of a bar fight involving some 20 patrons.
“Upon arrival, multiple victims were identified with various injuries, including two victims with stab wounds,” Frosceno said.
Police recovered a knife found at the scene.
Police said several injured people were transported to Yale-New Haven and Griffin hospitals.
A 26-year-old man suffered multiple stab wounds and is stable condition at Yale-New Haven, according to Frosceno.
Derby police are in the process of interviewing witnesses and more arrests are expected, Frosceno said.

A bevy of police officers and ambulance crews responded to a large melee early Wednesday on Derby’s Main Street.
Two people suffered stab wounds, according to emergency radio dispatches.
Derby police said they’re working the case and will release information as soon as they can.
According to emergency radio transmissions, ambulances were sent to help an assault victim at about 1:20 a.m.
Derby then requested ambulances from Ansonia, where a dispatcher reported that two people had been stabbed. The dispatcher also reported “multiple assault victims.”
Emergency dispatchers said the incident was at a pool hall on Main Street near Factory Street.
Two people were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
