St. Vincent de Paul, Helping Hands of the Valley thrift shop and food bank is desperate for food donations.
We service more than 30 families a week with groceries and our shelves are bare. There are no food drives until the beginning of November, but the phone does not stop ringing with people seeking assistance from us.
The shelf pictured above should be stocked with soup, but as you can see, there is none.
We are also in need of canned ravioli/spagetti, canned beef stew, tuna fish, peanut butter, jelly, boxed potatoes, canned fruit, cake mixes, macaroni and cheese, and baked beans, just to name a few.
We also accept monetary donations, and gift cards.
We will be servicing more than 100 families this Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Gifts, toys, gift cards will be gladly accepted for them. We are also looking for individuals and companies to adopt a family for Christmas.
The food bank is located at 237 Roosevelt Drive in Derby. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
