Derby Goes Pink October 22

Wear your pink tomorrow, as Oct. 22 is officially Derby Goes Pink Day.”

The city will show its solidarity at 7 p.m. on the Derby Green during a luminary lighting ceremony.

The event is part of the Valley Goes Pink,” an annual effort to raise awareness of breast cancer and to raise money for treatment and research.

Here are other events happening this month, according to the Valley Goes Pink website.

  • Tuesday, October 22 at 5:30 Annual Vineyards of the World at Il Palio Siena Lounge, Shelton. Join us to wrap up the month’s festivities. For $50 you enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and fabulous wines! Call hostess Linda Schauwcker or Sue Coyle at 203.926.1122 to make your reservation.
  • Tuesday, October 22 at 7:00 PM on the Derby Green: Luminary Lighting in remembrance of those who have lost the fight – and those who are in it to win it! Buy luminaries at Derby City Hall Clerk’s office, 1 Elizabeth Street, for $3 and throw in $1 more for a chance to win a drawing for a Pink Basket.
  • Thursday, October 24 from 7:00 till midnight, Think Pink Drink Pink! at Bar None of Derby, 87 Elizabeth Street. Show your support, wear your pink (men, too!) and enjoy specialty mixed pink drinks, pink beer, and pink prizes all night long! All tips at the bar will be matched by Bar None’s owners!
