Derby Government Remembers Stan Muzyk

DERBY — The Derby Board of Aldermen/Alderwomen observed a moment of silence Thursday to mark the passing of Stanley F. Muzyk, Jr.

Muzyk, a prolific writer of letters to the editor to local newspapers for decades, died Oct. 31. He was 89.

A graduate of Shelton High School, Muzyk lived in Derby for 56 years. He married Dorothy Borkowski on June 6, 1953.

Muzyk was a lifetime parishioner of St. Michael’s Church, a member of St. Michael Post 1560, Catholic War Veterans, Nest 36, Polish Falcons, and former member of Knights of Columbus. A Korean War Veteran, he served in the U.S. Air Force, according to his obituary.

Muzyk was a former member of the Derby Police Commission and the housing authority.
