Derby Greenway Walk-a-Thon Raises $1,000 For Griffin Cancer Center

Forty-eight walkers raised $1,000 on Sunday, Sept. 18, for the Griffin Hospital Center for Cancer Care in the second annual Derby Greenway Walk-a-Thon.

The money was five times what was raised the first year, according to sponsors.

The 3.56-mile walk ran along the Derby Greenway, with the starting point across the street from BJ’s Wholesale Club on Division Street.

The event was run by the Polish Falcons of America, Derby Nest 208 and Ansonia Nest 36. The national fraternal organization supports physical fitness programs for youth and promotes the continuation of Polish culture and traditions.

Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers was the sponsor.
