Derby High School All-Class Reunion Is Sept. 3

The 12th Annual Derby High School All-Class Reunion will take place Saturday September 3rd, 2011 (Labor Day Weekend) with a suggested time of 7 pm.

The time is suggested because it is hoped classmates will meet earlier to maybe have dinner downtown.

Once again last year’s venues are still on board for classes from the 70’s decade and earlier to meet at the Derby Elks Lodge (203 – 735-1142) and the 80’s decade and later to meet at Archie Moores (203 – 732-3255).

Both venues are located on Elizabeth Street.

Keeping in mind the original intent of the reunion was to help generate business downtown and to help the graduating classes who don’t have a reunion committee to be part of a get together.”

The additional thought was that everyone would/could move around from business to business (all of them, not just the meeting places), all classmates are welcome at all venues and some may actually meet up with parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, former teachers and administrators, etc.

Since its’ inception much has changed but the concept is catching on since many more realize it is happening on Labor Day Saturday.

Last year, classmate Dan Allen had set up a Facebook page called Derby CT High School All Class Reunion Weekend but unfortunately FB decided to archive many groups which means all contact info is GONE.

Originally started by the Derby Cultural Commission, this event appears to have taken off on its own although if there are any alumni groups that think it needs tweaking after 11 years.

Hopefully they will come forward and they don’t even have to live locally especially with the Internet being a factor.

There is no cover charge at each venue.

Menus and entertainment vary at each venue and this year the Elks will be having Karaoke featuring MegaWatt entertainment.
