Legendary aviator Amelia Earhart will be returning to the Valley on Monday, July 13, 2009, after an absence of 73 years.
Ms. Earhart’s last local appearance was before the Derby Women’s Club at the Sterling Opera House in 1936, where she dazzled all in attendance with her charm and wit.
Now portrayed by historical re-enactor Karen Tracy, the legendary aviatrix will be appearing at the Derby Historical Society’s Silver Tea at John J. Sullivan’s on Wakelee Avenue, at 2 p.m.
Tickets to this spellbinding event are $20 per person, or $200 for a table for 10. Food and refreshments will be served, and there will be chances to win door prizes. Call the Derby Historical Society at 735‑1908, or 734‑5765 on weekends, for more information and tickets.
We now return you to our regular programing…
Robert Novak, Jr. is the executive director of the Derby Historical Society.
