Derby Man Charged With Burglary From Vehicle

DERBY — A 37-year-old city resident was arrested on May 1 for allegedly stealing items from a motor vehicle.

Michael Haskins was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree breach of peace, and second-degree criminal trespass, according to a probable cause statement from Derby police.

According to police, dispatch received a phone call on May 1 reporting a theft from a motor vehicle. While on their way to the call, police came across the complainant and Haskins arguing in front of a residence.

Using the complainant’s video surveillance cameras, officers were able to determine that the suspect who was arguing with the complainant was, in fact, the same male who stole from the complainant’s vehicle,” according to the statement.

Police also said they recovered stolen items from Haskins, including several knives and comic books, which can be seen in the photo below.

The male was in possession of several comic books and a collection of knives all of which are believed to be stolen.
