A federal judge in Hartford sentenced a Derby man to to 90 months in prison for producing child pornography, federal prosecutors announced Thursday.
The man, Matthew Maffucci, 31, had pleaded guilty in March to one count of production of child pornography.
His prison sentence will be followed by 10 years of probation, according to a press release issued Thursday afternoon by U.S. Attorney David B. Fein.
Fein said that according to court documents and statements made in court, Maffucci admitted to producing child pornography between 2004 and March 2010.
The FBI conducted a search of Maffucci’s residence and seized a computer and other computer storage media in June 2010 which revealed more than 15,000 images of minors, including children under the age of 12, engaged in sexually explicit conduct, the release said.
Included in his collection were pornographic images and videos of a minor, which he produced over the course of several years, the press release said. Maffucci also received and distributed child pornography using an Internet file sharing program.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the Connecticut Computer Crimes Task Force, with assistance from Derby police.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anastasia E. King.
