Derby Man Is Missing, Family Distraught

A local family is desperate for help after the disappearance of one of their own this month.

I’m at the point I don’t know what to do. I don’t know where to go with this,” 24-year-old Kimberly Signore said Wednesday.

Signore’s uncle, Gordon Maloney, 44, hasn’t been seen or heard from since May 19, Signore said.

Not only have messages to Maloney’s cell phone been ignored — he left behind medication he needs to keep his diabetes in check.

He’s diabetic and he needs insulin three times a day,” she said.

She said Maloney was last seen leaving the the Kazimir Pulaski Club, a private social club at 42 Bridge St. in Shelton, on May 19. He’s a regular there, and his absence spurred an employee at the bar to contact Maloney’s family.

Signore lives in Ansonia but is a Derby native. She said she has a tiny family, all of whom are worried sick about Maloney.

He’s never done this before, so this is a big deal,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion.

Signore contacted the Derby police last week. Since then she’s been trying to track Maloney herself by talking to his friends at the Kazimir Pulaski Club and posting his information all over Facebook. She has received some conflicting information from people, making the search that much more frustrating.

She said Lt. Sal Frosceno and a Detective Bartone were working the case Wednesday.

Maloney was living with a friend in an apartment in the Sterling Towers on Roosevelt Drive. The two may have had some sort of dispute just before Maloney disappeared, Signore said.

Maloney is between 5 feet 10 and 6 feet tall. He’s slender, bald, with blue eyes and a scruffy beard.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call the Derby Police Department at 203 – 735-7811, ext. 567.
