A Derby man was seriously injured after a crash on Route 8 in Shelton Sunday (Sept. 24).
The collision occurred about 1 p.m. on Route 8 north just south of exit 14.
According to an accident information summary from state police, 51-year-old Daniel Zilli was driving his motorcycle in the right lane alongside a Chrysler minivan when the vehicles hit in a side-swipe collision.
Zilli sustained serious injuries in the crash and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital by Shelton EMS.
The minivan was driven by Martha Tenesaca, 37, of Woodside, NY. She was not injured, nor were four passengers in her vehicle.
Route 8 north was closed for several hours after the crash before reopening about 6 p.m., according to Tweets from state police.

State police asked that anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Troop I at 203 – 393-4200 to assist the investigation.
The Valley Indy left a message Tuesday at Yale-New Haven Hospital inquiring about Zilli’s condition.
