Derby Mayor's Office Asks Residents To Complete Online Survey

DERBY — Mayor Rich Dziekan’s office is asking the public to take an online survey about getting grant money to fix a pedestrian bridge on the Derby Greenway.

A bridge on the walking trail (which is along the Housatonic and Naugatuck rivers) installed in 2005 needs roughly $425,000 in repairs.

City officials said they are planning to apply for a $340,800 state grant to fix the bridge, which would cover 80 percent of the costs. Derby would be responsible for paying the remaining 20 percent.

Engineers who inspected the bridge said it’s in bad shape. A description of the condition starts the city’s online survey.

The survey
has three (mandatory) parts:

1. Are you in support of the project? (Yes or No)
2. Please provide feedback for your answer to Question 1 related to the project. (A space is provided to write an answer)
3. Name, address, email, telephone number. (The survey states the personal information is being collected for recordkeeping and grant paperwork purposes.“
