Derby McDonald’s Opens Again, Former NFL Player To Appear

The rebuilt McDonald’s at 44 Division St. had a soft opening this week, and a former NFL player is scheduled to attend an official ribbon-cutting Monday, Dec. 19 at 2 p.m.

David Tyree, a former wide receiver for the New York Giants and the Baltimore Ravens, is scheduled to appear at the ribbon-cutting, according to a flier posted on Derby Second Ward Alderman Art Gerckens’ Facebook page.

The McDonald’s restaurant was razed in September. The building was old and in need of repair.

The new restaurant will seat 74 people and have two drive-through lanes, a common feature of modern McDonald’s. The new construction is also expected to fix drainage issues that plagued the property.

The local restaurant is owned by Joseph Rodriguez, whose company spent an estimated $2.5 million on the redevelopment.
