The Derby Police Department has promoted two employees to sergeant.
Detective John Netto and Patrolman Brian Grogan will be sworn in to their new positions on June 20, at a ceremony at the police department at 6:30 p.m., according to a press release issued by Chief Gerald Narowski Thursday.
The two officers were chosen from a pool of seven candidates, after scoring the highest on a written and oral exam, according to Narowski.
The testing process was conducted by the South Central Criminal Justice Administration.
“I would like to congratulate these officers, and all the department members who participated in the process, for their hard work and tenacity,” Narowski said in the press release.
The new sergeants will make $34.37 an hour — or about $71,490 each year, according to Lt. Sal Frosceno.
