DERBY — Police are asking for the public’s help to solve a string of burglaries in the Hawthorne Avenue area.
According to a post on the Derby Police Department’s Facebook page, thieves are targeting outdoor sheds and grabbing items from around the home.
The post did not include how many burglaries have happened, the time of day the burglaries happened, the date of the crimes, or what was stolen.
“Our posts are intentionally vague to solicit information and all tips,” police said.
However, a resident on Lakeview Terrace between Roosevelt Drive and Hawthorne Avenue posted on Facebook that someone stole items from his shed between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Dec. 12.
Police noted the public can submit videos through the Ring home security app.
People with info on the crimes should call 203 735 7811.
UPDATE:
According to recent unconfirmed reports posted to Ring app:
1. Someone stole a backpack leaf blower
2. A garage was broken into and someone stole a “red tracker 90 ATV”
3. Someone in a red vehicle was spotted acting suspiciously (driver got out with a flashlight, appeared to be “casing” a home)
