Derby Police Use Taser To Subdue Ansonia Man

Derby police used a Taser to subdue an Ansonia man who was allegedly caught urinating behind Bar None, a new restaurant and pub on Elizabeth Street.

Police officers said they spotted Zachary Granda, 36, urinating on the sidewalk behind the business, which is in Plaza on the Green.

He chose not to be cooperative with police and therefor was Tased,” said Lt. Sal Frosceno, spokesman for the Derby Police Department. The arrest happened about 2 a.m. Sunday.

Granda was charged with two counts of interfering with police, in addition to breach of peace.

He is due in Superior Court in Derby Aug. 25.

According to online court information, Granda also has charges of second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace pending against him. Those charges are from a Feb. 26 arrest in Seymour.

The second-degree assault charge is a felony. Additional information on those charges weren’t available Monday.
