Derby Public Schools Has A New Business Manager

At the April 21, 2022 Board of Education meeting, The Derby Board of Education, on the recommendation of the Advisory Selection Committee and the Superintendent of Schools, unanimously appointed Robert (Robbie) Trainor to the position of Business Manager for the Derby Public Schools. Robbie joins our family from New Reach, Inc., a non-profit organization located in New Haven, CT, where he has been the Senior Grant Manager since October 2021. Prior to his promotion to Grant Manager, he held a variety of accounting roles within New Reach that covered audit, budgeting, payroll and financial analysis. Prior to New Reach, Robbie served in roles of increasing responsibility throughout his career in a variety of industries. Robbie received his Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Finance and a minor in Economics and Psychology from Marist College in 2011.

Board Chairman, Jim Gildea said, The Derby Board of Education welcomes Robbie Trainor to the family as our new Business Manager. Robbie brings expertise in the area of Finance automation and Grant reporting and we are confident he will be a positive contributor to the team and to the Derby Family. We look forward to working with him as a Board and watching him work with the various stakeholders and City officials.”

Conway Jr. shared, Robbie embodies our Derby family values and comes to the table with not only a strong financial background, but an enthusiasm for building strong communications and teamwork as he gets involved within our schools. We are excited to welcome Robbie to the family. Robbie will have the opportunity to learn from the best, as retired business manager Mark Izzo will help introduce Robbie to all aspects of the role of a school district business manager”.

His salary is $125,000 annually and he starts in June.
