Derby Schools Have Interim Biz Manager

A retired school business official will work with the city schools while the Board of Education looks for a new full-time business manager.

The Board of Education voted last month to appoint Arthur Poole of Torrington as the interim business manager.

Poole will take over for Nancy O’Dea-Wyrick, who left the district on Sept. 11 to take a similar post with the Monroe school system.

Superintendent of Schools Stephen Tracy said Poole will be paid $550 per day of work and will work four days a week until the Thanksgiving break. The board is looking for a full-time replacement for O’Dea-Wyrick and expects to receive resumes for the job until mid-September.

The full-time business manager position will pay between $85,000 and $100,000 a year, Tracy said.
