Derby To Name Meeting Room After Former City Clerk

ElectronicValley.orgOn Thursday, Jan. 3, officials will name the City Hall Aldermanic Chambers in honor of former city clerk Joan Williamson.

A ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. on the second floor of Derby City Hall at 1 Elizabeth St.

Williamson passed away from cancer in 2010. She was 74 years old and left behind her husband, Bernard, three sons and six grandchildren.

She was the Derby City Clerk for four terms upon retiring in 2007. She was considered the unofficial Derby mayor due to her extensive knowledge of city government.

Joan Williamson was a special person, who always put others first, her city first and always treated people as if they were the most special person in the room,” according to a prepared statement from the city.
