Derby Woman Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle

Derby police said an 85-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a car Monday morning.

Angelina Borrelli was struck on Ninth Street at about 7 a.m., according to police. She was pronounced dead at St. Vincent’s Hospital.

The driver, a 26-year-old Derby resident, remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

The Derby Police Department accident reconstruction team was called in to handle the investigation and reconstruction. No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation remains open,” police said.

Borrelli is the mother of Derby Board of Apportionment and Taxation Member Jerry Borrelli and the mother-in-law of Derby Board of Education Member Debra Borrelli, according to Derby City/Town Clerk Marc Garofalo.
