Derby’s Mary Hyde Named To NEWBA Honor Roll

University of Saint Joseph junior forward Mary Hyde (Derby, Conn.) was named to the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll for
the week ending Jan. 20.

In helping St. Joseph to a 2 – 1 record, Hyde had team-leading averages of 20.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She made 9 of 14 three-point attempts (64.3 percent) and 16 of 17 free throws (94.1 percent).

In a 72 – 60 win over Lasell on Jan. 15, Hyde scored a career-high 27 points and also added 13 rebounds and six assists.

The NEWBA honors seven players weekly from throughout New England, a Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week and five Honor Roll selections.
