‘Discovery: An Evening Of Original Plays’ Saturday, Nov. 13 At The Strand

SEYMOUR — Jennifer Ju presents Discovery — An Evening of Original Plays,” a workshop production of six plays on Saturday, Nov. 13 beginning at 7 p.m. at The Strand Theater (165 Main St.). 

The plays encompass four original works by Jennifer Ju including: 

  • The Wall”, a comedy performed in radio play format in which folks go to huge lengths to stay safe;
  • Brave New World,” in which a trip to the smoldering remains of the American Shakespeare Theatre forces an estranged mother and daughter to examine love and loss;
  • Truth or Dare,” a comedy in which two strangers start to peel away each other’s carefully curated layers and discover the truth that lies beneath, and;
  • Happier Days,” in which a former prom queen turned flailing author tries to dig her way out of her predicament, literally and figuratively, until a chance encounter makes her pause.

The production also includes: The Portia Cruiser” by Rachel H. Babcock in which a daughter learns to release her anger, feel the wind and reconnect with her distant father while on a small sailboat. When Tomorrow Comes” by Beatriz Allen wherein two couples, with special needs young adult children spend an afternoon making difficult life choices for their children and themselves (a portion of this play will be performed).

Directors for the shows are: Rachel H. Babcock of Branford, Linda Gilmore of Norwalk, Rich Mancini of Stratford and Robert Watts of Milford.

The show features Gregg Allen, Julia Allen and Tom Rushen, all of Stratford; Rachel H. Babcock of Branford, Betzabeth Castro of Bridgeport, Dave Sheehan of West Haven and Linda Gilmore and Sam Mink, both of Norwalk. Also featured are TJ Chila, Jennifer Ju and Richard Warren, all of Milford and Carolyn Savoia of Ridgefield.
