The Paugassett Hook & Ladder Co. #4 in Derby will be conducting their semi-annual boot drive on Saturday, May 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The members will be collecting on Derby Avenue (Route 34) in front of the firehouse.
The money collected will be used to purchase equipment for the new brush truck that the company just put into service.
The donations collected are also used to support youth organizations in Derby.
Money from past boot drives enabled the Paugassetts to purchase a thermal imaging camera, an all-terrain vehicle for fighting fires deep in the woods and responding to the Derby Greenway.
Last year Gov. Danell Malloy signed legislation that enabled the firefighters to conduct fundraising boot drives on state roads.
