Driver Charged In Connection To Accident That Took Derby Woman’s Life

DERBY — Eric Miller, a 26-year-old Derby resident, was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle in connection to an accident in August that claimed the life of an 85-year-old woman.

Angelina Borrelli was struck by a vehicle Miller was driving on Ninth Street the morning of Aug. 12. Borrelli died after being taken to the hospital.

Investigators determined that Miller’s front windshield was obscured from condensation coupled with heavy sun glare that prevented him from being able to see the roadway in front of him when he struck the pedestrian,” Derby police said in a social media post.

Miller, who was also ticketed for having a windshield with an obstructed view, was released on a written promise to appear in court Feb. 13.
