SHELTON – A 39-year-old woman from Orange was charged with driving under the influence after she allegedly drove the wrong way on Route 8 and caused a crash.

Andrea Lynn Marseglia is also charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a child, failure to drive in the proper lane, and driving the wrong way on a divided highway.

According to a prepared statement from state police, troopers received a report of a vehicle heading south in the northbound lanes of Route 8 at about 1:25 a.m. Aug. 28.

Police said Marseglia crashed her Lexus head-on into a Nissan Maxima carrying an adult and a 14-year-old boy from Bristol. Both people in the Maxima were taken to Bridgeport Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, according to state police.

The crash happened near exit 13.

Marseglia is free on a $5,000 bond pending an arraignment scheduled for Sept. 11 in Superior Court in Derby.

Both people in the Maxima were wearing seatbelts.
