UPDATE: On April 9, Ansonia police identified the two people injured in this crash as Monica Parks, 40, of Ansonia and Amanda Shaw, 22, of Shelton.
Parks was a passenger in Joel German’s vehicle, according to police and Shaw was driving the second vehicle.

Two people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a two-car crash on Franklin Street at about midnight Friday.
According to the Ansonia Police Department arrest log, Joel A. German, 40, of 544 Wakelee Ave., was charged with driving under the influence, traveling unreasonably fast and failure to drive to the right of the center line in connection to the crash.
Few details were available Friday morning. Police said a passenger from one vehicle was hospitalized, as was the driver of a second vehicle.
Police said the injuries to the people do not appear to be life-threatening.
The crash happened in the area of 53 Franklin St.
Two people were unconscious at the scene, according to initial emergency radio dispatches. The jaws of life were used to cut one person from a vehicle.
German is due in Superior Court in Derby April 20.
