Police Say Drug Suspect Ran

See a guy in handcuffs running away from police in Ansonia near the Shell Gas Station Thursday?

Police say that was drug suspect Daniel Reid, 24, of Shelton.

Shelton detectives, armed with a search warrant, raided Reid’s Myrtle Street residence Thursday. 

Cops said they seized several narcotics related items” from the residence. Reid had apparently been under investigation for two months.

Detectives spotted Reid sometime later in his car near the Shell Station on Great Hill Road, next to Tri-Town Plaza on the Ansonia-Seymour line.

Reid was taken out of the vehicle, arrested, and handcuffed with his hands behind his back,” according to a statement from Sgt. Robert Kozlowsky.

Shortly after Reid was able to grab his car keys and fled the scene on foot,” Kozlowsky said. 

Reid was apprehended by Shelton detectives after a foot chase that went about a quarter mile.

During the foot pursuit, Reid threw away the keys to his vehicle, police said.

Police were able to locate more than four ounces of marijuana and ecstasy pills in his vehicle.

Reid was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana greater than 4 ounces, possession of a hallucinogenic, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a narcotic and interfering with an officer.

Reid is currently being held on a $100,000 bond.
