A small fire off Minerva Street was quickly extinguished Tuesday morning.
Smoke was reported coming from the rear of a tall brick building in the 50 block off Minerva, firefighters said.
Assistant Chief Thomas Lenart, Jr. said it appeared a dryer malfunctioned in a space being used by City Stitchers, an embroidery/screen printing shop that fronts Elizabeth Street.
Lint may have been the culprit.
An employee managed to extinguished the fire, Lenart said.
The machine itself was damaged, as was a vent.
There were no injuries and Fire Marshal Phil Hawks was on the scene investigating.
The incident was reported about 8:40 a.m.
