Eagle Scout Project Helps Shelton Church

Boy Scout Troop 25 recently completed a handicap access ramp construction project at the First United Methodist Church of Shelton at the corner of Long Hill Avenue and Rocky Rest Road in Shelton.

The new ramp provides much needed access to the church’s Fellowship Hall for persons with mobility problems.

The project was an Eagle Scout Service Project for Shelton resident Philip Cooke, a Life Scout in Troop 25.

The project required over 500 work hours from numerous volunteers. Philip raised over $9,000 in material donations for the project.

He drew up the design on CAD, worked with the City of Shelton for permits, and coordinated the work crews.

This project was made possible by the generous donations of labor and materials from Blakeslee Arpaia Chapman, Suzio Concrete, Atlantic Wood Industries, L&B Transport, HARMAC Reinforcing Steel, Superior Products, United Concrete, MJ Electric, Grillo Organics, Morris Canal Supply Co., Southington Metal Fabricating, West Haven Lumber, AH Harris, Lowe’s, RD Scinto, United Rentals, Colony Hardware, Nutty Company and LB Foster.
