An elderly man appeared to have escaped injury after crashing his car into a building on Elizabeth Street Friday afternoon.
The circumstances that led to the crash were not available Friday.
Derby police, fire and ambulance were sent the parking lot at RJ’s Cafe at 148 Elizabeth St. at about 4:40 p.m. after a bartender reported the elderly man had just crashed into the building next door.
The man’s black Hyundai sedan poked a large gash into the side of a building owned by the Second Congregational Church at 136 Elizabeth St.
The damaged building is between the Second Congregational Church and RJ’s parking lot.
