Employers Can Learn About State Labor Programs June 30 In Shelton

Employers in the Shelton area interested in learning more about the state’s Subsidized Training and Employment Program (Step Up), as well as other business incentives and opportunities, still have time to pre-register for the June 30 conference being held at the Perry Hill Upper Elementary School, 60 Perry Hill Road in Shelton.

Note: the event has been moved from the Shelton Community Center to the school to better accommodate the number of attendees that have signed up for the conference.

The free event, offered by the Connecticut Department of Labor, begins at 7 a.m. with a continental breakfast and informational booths, while presentations and Q&A will be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m.

The event is being co-hosted and sponsored by State Sen. Kevin Kelly, State Rep. Ben McGorty and State Rep. Jason Perillo. It is also sponsored by Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, the Department of Economic and Community Development, state Workforce Investment Boards and a variety of organizations and community partners.

“We hope every employer in the Shelton area will be able to join us for this free conference,” said State Labor Commissioner Sharon M. Palmer. “Companies of all sizes can learn about opportunities and benefits that include the state’s Step Up wage subsidy program, low interest financing under the Small Business Express Program, job expansion tax credits, guidance to becoming a State of Connecticut vendor, free assistance in writing a business plan, and much more.”

  • September 9 – Middlesex Community College, Middletown
  • September 15 – Gateway Community College, New Haven
